SNL skit~

ON SNL they did another skit making fun of Bush, Palin, and McCain. The impersonations done by the SNL staff was so funny that even supporters of MCCain had to laugh. The skit was about Bush endorsing McCain. Will Ferril does almost an exact impression of George Bush and Tina Fey once again does a perfect Palin.
Some of the funniest lines were

"So, sorry Asian Markets, take a hit on this one"(Bush)

"Im out of here in a few months so screw it"(Bush)

"I think i blinked on the last shot, thumbs up everybody" (Bush)

Mo Money...

It seems that this year of elections was very different than it has ever been before. First, it was the use of the internet as an outlet to reach a larger base of Americans. Another, was the fact that younger generation got very involved. But the most suprising thing is the amount of money that has been spent on this election. the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics say that the candidates this year will spend a record-breaking amount of $5.3 Billion Dollars. $5.3 Billion Dollars!!! That is a ridiculous amount of money spent. USA TODAY's Fredreka Schouten reports that:
The presidential race alone will cost $2.4 billion -- a number that is nearly double the gross domestic product of Belize but still less than Coca-Cola spent on advertising in 2006.

Candidates for the White House already have raised more than $1.5 billion, marking the first time that presidential fundraising has exceeded the $1 billion mark and has nearly doubled what presidential contenders raised four years ago.

"This election will blow through historic records," Sheila Krumholz, the group's executive director, told reporters on a conference call.

Other trends:

• Democrats, who have outraised Republicans throughout the election cycle, are on track to collect 59% of contributions.

• The top industries in terms of contributions to federal elections include lawyers and law firms ($180.9 million) and the securities and investment industry ($122.8 million).

• Issue-advocacy groups, known as 527s for the section of the tax code under which they operate, seem to be playing a smaller role in this election cycle than in years past. Such groups reported $424 million in fundraising to the IRS in 2007-08, a 12% decrease from the same time period in the 2004 election.

I dont know about you but, the American Economy is in a state of chaos. I think there could have been a way to minimize spending in this economic time.

Protestors try to block Palin

For some reason protestors in Grand junction, Colorodo try to block Sarah Palin's motorcade. They protestors jump in fron the cars and the police had to drag and pull them away so the car can pass. Im wondering why they did this? oh wait! its Sarah Palin. I think the majority of America understands that Palin is not qualified to be the next Vice President and if John Mccain dies, definitely not qualified to run this country. Protestors boo and jeer at the police after they stopped them. Im not sure why the protestors hate Palin but im sure that they have a good reason to.

Another Moveon ad

Moveon has created another anti-McCain ad which now is focusing on Palin before the final push in the presidential debate. This time they take an approach of a talking moose and talks abot how Palin is underqualifies for her position as VP. The moose is from Alaska and it states how he know about Palin. They talk about how Palin doesnt know what she is talking about. These commercials really focus on the younger generation and it gets the message across is an innovative, funny way support Obama. Take a look and i bet you wont be able to smile.

The real Sarah Palin on SNL

Sarah Palin decided to come on SNL to make an appearance. Palin is again playe by Tina Fey and she again talks very energetic. She is answering questions in the press conference. She once again talks like she is stupid and doesnt answer the question. Its strange that Palin decided to appear on SNL. I think it was a good move because it shows that she is not affected. It funy because Tina Fey acts as if she is some blonde out of high school. Palin goes along with the skit and even cracks a few jokes. I think this episode is hilarious!

Joe the Plummer

On a Fox news report, Obama received a question from an ordinary man who the meda labeled him as joe the plumber. He addressed Obama about his new tax plan and whether he will be taxed more. Obama addresses his question in a mysterious way and isnt clear about his explanation. Obama basically tells joe that he will be taxed more. This seems to be the focus of the presidential race and McCain jumped on Obama's mistake and created a big buzz. I thought this was funny because Obama spends about 2 minutes explaining his answer when all he needed to say was "yes, you will be taxed more".

Rolling...Rolling...Rolling stones

So I just found out that Barack Obama got on the cover of Rolling Stones for the third time. This presidential election is defintely a big change from the years before. I could never imagine a presidential candidate on the Rolling stones three times in one year. By this happening, I can see that the younger generation is really concerned about this election. There is so much buzz that many media outlets for the younger generation are getting involved too. Here is an excerpt from the Rolling Stones interview with Obama.

Rolling Stone: "It's January 20th. You take office. Look at what you're confronting: the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression, the climate heating up faster than anyone imagined, dangerous nuclear instability around the world ..."

Obama: "Two wars. Yeah, we got some problems."

Rolling Stone: "Do you still want the job?"

Obama: "I tell you what -- now is the time, I think, to want the job. Because this is going to be a transitional moment for the United States. We have these moments periodically. Obviously, I wish that the Bush administration had not run things into the ground so bad, but no matter what, we would have had some big decisions to make. We have a big decision to make about our energy. We have a big decision to make about health care. We have a big decision to make about how do we revamp our education system to compete in a global economy. We have a big decision to make about our foreign policy and how we deal with transnational threats like terrorism, climate change -- eventually pandemic, refugee flows, genocide."

I like where Obama gets questioned about how this is the worst time to be a president with the economic problems. Obama replies that this is the time, he should want the job. I like this because it shows his confidence and his genuine will to want to improve this nation. What is another reason McCain didnt get on the Rolling Stones as much as Obama. Obama just simply looks better.

Move on...McCain Diss

I thought this Anti-McCain ad was hilarious because it take on another approach to presidential bashes. In this video, it targets teenagers to talk about their parents about the importance of not voting for John Mccain. Some of the funniest quotes are:

"Just people your age are doing it, doesnt mean its cool"

"If your ever out there and you consider voting Mccain for president, just call me out and i'll pick you up"

This ad is so funny because it sounds like one of those corny anti-drug commercials. Warning parents about how dangerous John MCcain is. Hilarious.

Palin's Daughter...17 and pregnant

So there is news that Sarah Palin's 17 year old daughter is pregnant and expecting a baby. I have to defend Palin on this because who care if her daughter is pregnant. It seems that presidential campagians focus on so much more than the actual candidate. Because truthfully, her daughter has nothing to do with Sarah Palin's skills as VP, only Sarah Palin can determine that. It's not that im expressing that i think Palin is quailifies, but i believe that credentials are much more important than the fact that he daughter got knocked up. I believe that media does not have to bash Palin for her daughter because there is so many other things that can be bashed about her. Go SArah, because i believe a new grandchild is the only thing she can look forward to receiving this year.

outrage towards obama

It seems that there are people that feel hatred towards Obama. In a CBS news report, they show clips of McCain's supporters calling Obama a "sociallist". At around 55 seconds of the video clip there is any angry man at McCain's ralley that bashes on Obama. The funniest thing is that right after the man criticizes Obama, you can see McCain's face grinning. I guess there is a lot of issues with people still mistkaing Obama as a outsider of this country. I believe that since Mccain's campaign is losing to Obama, they are stressing this point instead of other issues that are important. But all in all, i guess its all fair game when presdential candidates criticize each other, because for many candidates (*cough Mccain) that is all he can seem to do.

Cant trust Obama with guns

It seems that the National Rifle Association has decided to endorese John Mccain and Sarah Palin in this presidential race. This not suprising because Obama has shown that he oppooses guns. I was thinking about this and i realized that this is perfect because for john Mccain who has been a hardcore supporter of guns. Does this recognize you of anyone that shot someone (Cheaney). So all is well, in the presidential race because I dont believe Obama would have even accepted the endorsement by the NRA. So what is my views on guns? In South Korea it is illegal to carry guns and it seems that the world can do fine without guns, especiialy out of Cheaney's hands.

Paris Hilton for president~!

It seems that in this presidential debate, celebrities are getting more involved in the presdiential debate. It seems ridiculous, but Paris Hilton, the last person we would ever even consdier president made a video concerning the presidential election. Paris hilton makes a video about her being a "fake president" for a part of Will Ferril's comedy skit. Although it seems harmless, it is actually drawing more of the younger audiences about the election. Using celebrities, the media, can expose voting to the younger generation. Paris Hilton uses terms like "FoPo" for foreign policy and there is even a joke about how much funner the election would be if it was on MTV. I dont know about you guys, but watchin Paris Hilton talking about the election is kind of sexy, no?

Obama and Mccain banner

I found this banner on the internet created by upstream that analyzes the key words that were emphasized during the dabte.

It was interesting to see this because it break downs the type of words that the candidates used. McCain used more patriiotic terms while Obama seems to have more of a mild-mannered speech. This reflects the kind of personality they both have. Obama seems more composed and more down to earth while McCain seems more patriotic and loud. In my opinion, i like Obama much better.

McCain and the "keating five"

Obama out out a video on McCain about how he was involved in the keating five scandel. In this video they tell about how Mccain made a very poor judgement and caused one of the biggest financial collapes. McCain apparantly got a pardon for "bad judgement" and here is an excerpt from "The Politicio".

The power of the Media

This past weekend i went home to visit my family. I have a 15 year old sister that is currently a sophmore in high school. In my mind, I thought that she would have no idea what was going on in the presidential elections. I was suprised to find that she knew even more about it than me. We actually had a deep conversation about what was going on in the elections. This really suprised me because when i was a sophmore in high school i knew very little of what was going on in the presidential election. My younger sister even showed me clips on youtube about the presidential candidates i had never even seen. I attribute her knowledge to the power of the internet. When i was in high school the preseidential election was not nearly as informative as it is now. Now a days, a person just simply types in a few keywords on youtube and the information about politic is opened up to them. Its kind of scary, but, i think my sister may know more about the election than me. >.<

Homer tries to vote for Obama

So everyone has at least watched one episode of Simpsons in their life. I just watched an episode reflecting the simpsons take on the presidential election. It quite funny because Homer simpson tries to vote using an electrical voting machine. However, he fails to do so because the machine is rigged and it keeps voting for john Mccain. Although simplistic in its nature, i believe this episode has a deeper meaning. I believe the simpsons are trying to show that voting is very important. In the media today, there is no way to avoid the presidential election. It is all over the TV and, more than ever, it is all over the internet. This epsisode is very interesting and i definitely recomment it.

Noonan and Stewart

Reagan's and Bushs' speech writer Peggy Noonan appeared on John Stewarts show.It is interesting to see how Stewart and Noonan talks about the political problems of today. I watch John Stewart once in while, and i can say that this episode was funny but also very serious in aspect. Its kind of interesting when Noonan says that this era is a big time of political change. I agree with her because there are a lot more factors in this present technological age than before. Noonan states that it is strange that Bush has not been addressing the problems occuring. Stewart puts its brilliantly when he says "bush is like a college senior". This is hilarious because he does seem to do exactly that. He is one of the first presidents not adressing out nations problem directly and instead is like a commentator on the side. Watch this clip and you will learn some very interesting thoughts from Noonan.

Tina Fey=Sarah Palin

Im sure all of America has watched Tina Fey's impersonation of Palin. What is so scary is that they talk and look exactly the same. Palin's sebate with Biden reflected exactly why we do not want Palin as a VP. She seems too happy like she is high on some medication. Always repeating "Maverick" just as many times as Tina said in the SNL comedy skit. The most hilarious thing about the debate in my mind is that Palin does a shoutout of her elementary supporters during a live debate. Why would she do that? Maybe she wants to attract even the more younger generation to vote for her. But Ms. Palin, didnt you know you cant vote until you turn 18?

Ron Clark Kids

I came across this video on you tube and its about a group of kids who rapped about the election. Its amazing how these kids are singing/dancing to support the president. The interview with these kids show that they are really passionate about the election and that they actually know what they are talking about. These kids cant even vote but they seem to be more passionate about the presidential election than most adult. One kids even breaks out in tears...tears! If only the rest of the nation was more passionate about our president 8 years ago.

McCain apologizes...to Letterman

McCain is deeply sorry for canceling an appearance to David Letterman's show. He apparantly was scheduled to attend letterman's show on septmeber 24th but didnt appear. He apologized and said "he screwed up" by no attending Letterman's show. Letterman said that he felt like a "ugly date" and in response for McCain's absence he invited the McCain Critic Keith Olbermann of MSNBC to fill in for McCain. I dont know why he didnt attend the show but im sure that Letterman would attack him relentlessly for his actions. Maybe MCcain fell asleep or his joints were too sore? O well, the show turned was probably more interesting without him there.

SO i just came across this video while surfing on youtube. Its a remix of the "Thong Song" originally by Cisco. This is hilarious because the lyrics are hilarious. I know be a little unappropriate for the younger audiences but the lyrics are quite creative. There is a section of the song where he says "Palin goes What What What What". I think especially during this new era of the intetnet it gives the american people a chance to express their views creatively...although, sometimes it can be too much...(the red thong was not necessary)

The Media is not sexist...Palin says..

So its been established and even Palin agrees that the media coverage of her is not sexist. Instead she believes the media has been critical because she is not part of the "washington herd". CBS has been reporting on Couric's interviews of Palin and here is an excerpt from the interview.


Couric: "Do you think the coverage of you has been sexist?"

Palin: "No, I don't. I mean, I know that there -- it's obvious there's some double-standards here, you know, in terms of what the media has been doing, but I think that's more -- I think more attributable to just the media elite, the Washington elite, not knowing who I am and just asking a whole lot of questions and not so much based on gender though, but based on just the fact that I'm not part of the Washington herd."

Couric: "Having said that, do you think it would be sexist, governor, not to question your credentials and your policy positions?"

Palin: "It would be sexist if the media were to hold back and not ask me about my experience, my vision, my principles, my values, you're right.

Republicans are out of place like an elephant at a Donkey Show

So..I guess there was an incident in the upper west side of manhattan...republicans! So apparently Republucans walked through an area infested with liberals and "progressives" and so some reason they got booed and yelled at. I wonder why this happened? perhaps....they shouldnt have worn their MCCain supporter T-shirts. It pretty funny because theres a part in the clip where a man cheers to the McCain Supporters "we want war! we want war!". This tells a lot about how graceful people can be duting an election period. so as the supporters walk down this manhattan street they are faced with not only jeering and yelling but quite an amount of middle fingers directed towards them. Why is there so much hate in this election. (If i was there I cant say I wouldnt do the same exact thing (x_x)
